Urban Kitchen

Bozeman, MT

My wife, a picky eater but no stranger to great food, has her socks consistently rocked when we dine at Urban Kitchen. Make reservations, especially if you plan on dining at Urban Kitchen on the weekend. If you don’t, see the hostess; they do have some open seating available by the bar area, but you may have to wait for a while.

The restaurant and bar have a rustic-modern open floor plan, with wooden accents that complete the ambiance. The restaurant itself is divided into three main areas: the bar, with tall tables and chairs; a long hallway, with bench seating along the wall; and a cozy den area, with a massive bull elk head on the wall as the centerpiece. If you are having a pre-dinner cocktail, I’d order the UK Maggie (Tequila) or the Red “G” Hound (Vodka). They are both refreshing and delicious without being overly sweet or boozy.

Speaking of delicious, I hope you come with an appetite. Everything on the menu has been meticulously thought out and prepared with the sole purpose of delivering the most satisfaction in every bite. Choosing a hand-crafted steak knife for the Tomahawk (a best shared, off the menu, 50-ounce bone-in ribeye steak) is definitely entertaining. But do yourself a favor and order the Bok Choy to start and the Pan Seared Duck Breast as the main course. They are delightful and pair beautifully with a nice bottle of Pinot Noir.

We think you will love Urban Kitchen if you want your dinner to be an experience.

Local’s Tip:

The bartenders at UK are always experimenting with spirit infusions and all kinds of tasty cocktail concoctions. Ask them so sample some of their latest work, if you’re interested in trying something exciting that you have probably never had before.

Blacksmith italian

Bozeman, MT

In the kitchen, they hand-make 5 pounds of fresh ricotta cheese each day. The executive chef and co-owner Cory Dragone, learned to make pasta in Rochester, pastries in Portland and coffee in New York. Blacksmith is an accumulation of all those years– purposely taking every job in the book, giving up everything to learn something new.

Blacksmith Italian pays homage to Stefano Dragone, Stefano became a blacksmith apprentice at a very young age learning to shoe horses and make tools. His craft eventually took him to Rochester, NY where he and his wife raised their eight children. Just as his great-grandfather did, Cory learned his artistry at a young age, and the family’s work ethic is evident throughout the restaurant.
